A gas cylinder is turned on, and from a snake basket grows a white Mamba of foam. If it is large enough, the entertainer takes it in his hand and lights it without getting hurt.
How does it work?
Methane, the main component of natural gas, is fed into a bowl of soapy water below the basket. The methane bubbles that are produced form a white foam which is lighter than normal foam, since methane is lighter than air.
The snake can be safely burnt while on the hand, because the flame spreads quickly upwards and the hand is slightly dampened by the foam.
