The Showmaster has three identical beakers in front of him. He turns all three upside down and shows that they are empty. One of the beakers is then filled with water, and the “shell game” begins. The beakers are quickly swapped around. The audience is asked, in which beaker the water is. The two empty beakers are turned over first. But when the third beaker is also turned over, nothing comes out either.
How does it work?
In the third beaker is a small amount of super-absorber, which quickly turns water into a kind of water-pudding. The super-absorber consists of long molecule chains, which can “trap” water molecules. In a typical baby nappy you can find a table spoon of super absorber, which keeps the baby’s bottom dry.
